About Sanghamitra Sarkar
Dr. Sanghamitra Sarkar, Chairperson and Founder of IAPNEM, brings a profound academic foundation and extensive fieldwork experience to her leadership. She holds a Master's degree in Geography followed by a Ph.D. focusing on the critical environmental issues of Sikkim. Her dedication to ecological and human geography expanded through two prestigious post-doctoral assignments: the first examining the lives and livelihoods of river island dwellers along the Teesta River, and the second investigating the socio-environmental dynamics of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) of Odisha. With a rich teaching background spanning both schools and colleges, Dr. Sarkar is deeply passionate about bridging grassroots environmental realities with education to foster a resilient and sustainable tomorrow.
