International Association for People, Nature and Environmental Management

The International Association for People, Nature and Environmental Management (IAPNEM) is an emerging multidisciplinary organisation committed to advancing the well-being of people, nature and the environment through education, research, awareness, capacity building, collaboration and sustainable livelihood generation.

IAPNEM was established in May 2025 under the Indian Trust Act, with its registered office in Kolkata, West Bengal. While rooted in Kolkata, the organisation has a wider outlook and a geographically diverse team whose members and associates extend across different parts of India and beyond national boundaries. IAPNEM seeks to build a collaborative network that transcends geographical, disciplinary and institutional boundaries, bringing together individuals and organisations who share a commitment to sustainable and inclusive development.

The organisation has been conceived as a platform where knowledge, research and action converge. Its work encompasses a broad spectrum of interconnected areas, including physical and environmental issues, social development, health and well-being, sports, culture, women’s empowerment, the welfare and dignity of older persons, disability inclusion, livelihood generation and other areas of contemporary social and environmental importance.

IAPNEM recognises that the challenges of the present and the future cannot be addressed through isolated approaches. Environmental sustainability is closely linked with social well-being, economic opportunity, public health, cultural vitality and inclusive participation. The organisation therefore promotes an integrated and multidisciplinary approach, encouraging collaboration among academics, researchers, professionals, practitioners, communities, institutions, young people and other stakeholders.

Through its programmes and initiatives, IAPNEM aims to encourage research and knowledge generation, education and awareness, skill and capacity development, community engagement, sustainable livelihood opportunities and the exchange of ideas and best practices. The organisation aspires to contribute to solutions that are locally relevant, scientifically informed, socially inclusive and environmentally responsible.

IAPNEM also believes that sustainable development must be a shared endeavour. Its platform is intended to welcome participation irrespective of age, gender, background, geography or professional discipline, creating opportunities for diverse experiences and perspectives to contribute towards a common purpose.

As an organisation at its formative stage, IAPNEM looks forward to developing meaningful partnerships and collaborations across India and internationally. Its ambition is to grow as a credible platform for education, research, innovation, social engagement and environmental stewardship, while remaining firmly guided by the principles of sustainability, inclusiveness and responsible action.

Our Vision for a Resilient Future

At the International Association For People Nature And Environmental Management (IAPNEM), we believe that the survival of our planet and the dignity of the human spirit are inextricably linked. We do not view environmental conservation and social equity as separate goals, but as two sides of the same coin.

As we navigate an era of unprecedented global challenges—from climate instability to widening social disparities—IAPNEM stands as a bridge between scientific research and grassroots action. Our mission is to foster a world where nature thrives and every individual, regardless of age or ability, has the tools to build a sustainable livelihood.

Our Core Mission

Our mission is to empower communities through a multidisciplinary approach that integrates educational research with practical livelihood generation. We are committed to:

Environmental Stewardship: Addressing critical physical environmental issues through data-driven research and sustainable management practices.

Social & Cultural Upliftment: Preserving the richness of our diverse cultures while tackling pressing social issues that hinder collective progress.

Holistic Well-being: Championing health initiatives, promoting the spirit of sports, and ensuring a life of dignity for the elderly and those with disabilities.

Empowerment through Inclusion: Creating dedicated pathways for women’s empowerment and inclusive growth for marginalized groups.

Our Vision for the Future

We envision a Future Society where sustainability is not a choice, but a lifestyle. Our vision is a world characterized by:

Ecological Balance: A planet where the physical environment is restored and protected for generations to come.

Economic Resilience: Communities that are self-reliant, fueled by green livelihoods and equitable opportunities.

Universal Dignity: A society that honors the wisdom of the old, supports the potential of the differently-abled, and celebrates the leadership of women.

"The sustainability of our future depends on how effectively we manage the harmony between people and nature today."

We invite you to join us in this journey. Whether through research, partnership, or community action, your involvement is the catalyst for the change we wish to see. Together, we are not just managing resources; we are nurturing hope.

With determination and gratitude,

Chairperson,
International Association For People Nature And Environmental Management (IAPNEM)
